Firefighters stopped a seven-acre brush fire in the Sylmar area that was burning upslope away from homes at a slow rate of speed Sunday, Aug. 31.

The fire was reported about 6:20 p.m. in the 12600 block of North Harding Street, near Alta Vista Way and west of Kagel Canyon, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department’s Margaret Stewart.

The blaze was first reported at three quarters of an acre, and firefighters were able to hold it to seven, Stewart said.

No structures were damaged and no injuries were reported, she said. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

Crews planned to spend the night, making sure all hot spots were out, Stewart said.
