Knott’s Scary Farm lets you control the lights in the park

An interactive lantern gives visitors the power to trigger lighting effects on rides and attractions during the annual Halloween event.

Knott’s Scary Farm lets you control the lights on rides and attractions with the help of an interactive lantern that triggers special effects at more than 100 locations around the park.

The $48 interactive lantern sold during Knott’s Scary Farm lets visitors trigger lighting effects on rides and attractions throughout the Buena Park theme park.

Knott’s Berry Farm maze designer Gus Krueger revealed the secret special effects the interactive lantern triggers during a video posted to Instagram.

The Knott’s Scary Farm interactive lantern can trigger special effects at more than 100 activation locations. A digital map helps you find all the spots throughout the park.

Flipping a switch on the bottom of the lantern turns it from static to interactive mode. Pressing the button on the front of the lantern sets off special effects when you are within range of the activation location.

The lighting effects triggered by the interactive lantern on four Knott’s attractions:

Beyond the rides, the Knott’s Scary Farm interactive lantern can trigger effects in the 10 haunted mazes and five scare zones throughout the park.

The lantern can make a skeleton pop out of the Forsaken Lake, activate audio effects at the Blind Tiger speakeasy front door, bring a terrifying spider tree to life, launch a newscast at a Gore-ing ‘20s newsstand and open the lid on a glowing casket.

Knott’s Scary Farm runs on select nights through Nov. 1 at Knott’s Berry Farm.
